Landscape Design Adelaide for
homes and commercial sites

The drawing comes before the digger. We plan your outdoor space around your block, your budget and how you actually want to use it, then document it clearly enough to be priced and built without guesswork.

Our Landscape Design Process

Our Landscape Design Process

Every landscape design Adelaide project runs through the same five stages, so you always know what has been decided, what happens next and what it will cost to build.

Site visit and brief

We walk the block and record what shapes the design: aspect, slope, soil, drainage, trees and access. Then we agree how you want to use the space and what a realistic budget looks like before drawing.

Scaled concept plans

You receive a scaled plan showing zones, levels, surfaces, structures and planting areas. This is the stage for changing your mind, so we work the layout with you until the space flows right on paper.

Detailed development

The chosen concept is resolved in full. Paving patterns, materials, wall heights, level changes, lighting positions, irrigation zones, and a planting palette matched to your soil and light conditions.

Drawings and costing

Final plans, planting schedule and material specifications, prepared so the job can be quoted accurately. We flag where approval may be needed, so that requirements are confirmed early, not mid build.

Build stage handover

Build with our team, or hand the documents to your own contractor. Either way the drawings stay yours. When we build what we design, the person who sets the levels is the person checking them on site.

Residential Garden Design Services

Whether you are starting with bare dirt on a new build or reworking a tired backyard, residential garden design is about making a block work harder. We look at how you move through the space, where the sun and wind actually hit, and which areas are worth the money.

Plans are drawn to suit the property rather than a template, which matters on the narrow allotments, sloping blocks and heavy clay soils common across Adelaide.

For business and property

Commercial Landscape Architecture

Commercial sites are judged on different criteria. Sightlines, pedestrian flow, safety, durability under traffic and the cost of maintaining the space in five years all carry as much weight as how it looks on opening day.

We plan commercial grounds with those constraints written into the design, specifying surfaces and planting that hold up to real use and can be maintained on a predictable schedule.

Water wise planning

Native and Sustainable Garden Plans

A water wise landscape design Adelaide plan works with the local climate instead of fighting it through summer. That starts with plant selection, but the bigger gains come from soil preparation, grouping plants by water need and getting irrigation zoned properly from the outset.

We prioritise sustainable practices in our designs, including native and locally suited plants, water efficient irrigation systems and environmentally responsible materials.

  • Hydrozoning, Grouping Plants by Water Need

  • Soil Improvement, Mulching and Moisture Retention

  • Drip Irrigation Design, Zoning and Controller Setup

  • Lawn Alternatives and Reduced Turf Layouts

See it before you build it

3D Landscape Visualisation

Plans are read from above, but nobody experiences a garden that way. A 3D view shows the space at eye level, which is where most expensive changes of mind get avoided.

Understand the levels

Slopes, steps and retaining heights are hard to picture from a flat plan. In 3D you see how far you actually step down, and whether a wall sits at seat height or above eye line.

Test materials early

Compare paving, decking, screening and wall finishes side by side before anything is ordered. Changing a surface in a model costs nothing. Changing it after delivery does not.

Plan for maturity

Planting is shown at realistic size, so you can judge shade, privacy screening and sightlines as the garden grows in, not only as it looks on day one.

Design Questions, Answered

Not always, but on anything involving levels, drainage or structures it saves money. A plan lets the whole job be priced once, up front, instead of decisions being made on the run while a team is standing on site.

Yes. The drawings are yours once the design stage is complete. Plenty of clients have us design and build, but if you already have a contractor you trust, the documentation is prepared so anyone can quote and build from it.

Garden design usually means the planting, beds and soft elements. Landscape design covers the whole site, so levels, surfaces, drainage, structures and access as well as planting. Most projects need both resolved together.

It depends on what is proposed. Retaining walls above certain heights, structures and work near boundaries can trigger approval requirements. We flag anything likely to need it so you can confirm with your council early.

Yes, and it is where a design earns its keep. Slope, clay soil and tight access all change what is buildable and what it costs. Those constraints get recorded at the site visit and designed around rather than discovered later.

Yes. We prioritise sustainable practices including native and locally suited plants, water efficient irrigation and environmentally responsible materials. Planting is selected to suit your soil, aspect and the local climate.
